It's really bad.

My dad speaks at least six languages well, and bits and pieces of several others. When I saw him last night, his vocabulary consisted of "Yes", "Sure", "Ow", and "Three". He's extremely twitchy, hands and arms moving in circles constantly, which causes difficulties with his IV leads, and he smiles really big every so often for no apparent reason. One doctor theorizes that it's being brought on by severe dehydration; presuming they stay in long enough, the IV fluids he's getting should help with that. If not, it's a bloodflow issue in his brain, which is the much scarier proposition.

Because of the pacemaker he got put in two months ago, they can't do an MRI on him to check.

Freaking out very very much.

Merry Christmas to all.

When my mother was in the hospital in August, she had some similar symptoms (involuntary movement, comprehension, and speaking difficulties) partially due to extreme dehydration. Catch me online, We should talk.
