Not happy.

I was forced to choose tonight between my friends and my family, and despite my real desires, I chose my family.

It was just for one night, but I would rather have gone out with my friends tonight than with my parents tomorrow morning. Could I have engineered both? Nope. Out with friends means 2AM, minimum. Breakfast tomorrow means leaving at 9AM. Considering I only got about 4 hours last night, both was not an option. And the out-with-friends was a fairly special occasion: Bryan's Going-Away Crapfest '02. ("Crapfest", of course, is meant in only the most loving way.) Of course, breakfast with the 'rents is important, too--it's P's birthday tomorrow, and he'll get all snarky if I don't go. It's all a great big morass. Anyway, I was angryangryangry when I got home, so I did what I usually do with anger--turned it inward. That's healthy, right?

Doing some cleaning (well, excavation) in my room today yielded a bit of direct mail unlikely to be seen again: it was meant to promote the alliance between online broker Ameritrade and United Airlines (and I, as a United Mileage Plus member, was invited to join). Seems innocuous, right? Well, the ad tagline was "Fly into Wall Street with United and Ameritrade". I'll bet you're groaning right now, aren't you?

Today's Link Of The Day is News Of The Weird. Rather like Romanesko's Obscure Store And Reading Room, News Of The Weird collects the offbeat and often just wrong news items that appear in newspapers. Hope your middle name's not "Wayne". http://www.newsoftheweird.com/
