Well, that was a bit of a fabulous mindbender.
Tonight, I saw a live production of the film classic "Showgirls", as performed by sock puppets. I have now seen a sock puppet do a pole dance. It's definitely an experience.
The greater experience, of course, was being in the company of friends seen far too infrequently. There was talking and laughing and entirely absurd charades and more talking and, at the end of the night, part of a viewing of my favorite Woody Allen film, "Manhattan" (I say "part of a viewing" because my hosts succumbed to Cinderella's Carriage Syndrome.)
There are events in life that we plan for and expect to happen and know roughly how they're going to happen, yet when they happen, even according to plan, they shock us. That happened to me not once but twice today-once upon hearing of the unfortunate death of former Alice in Chains frontman Layne Staley (one just got the feeling that he'd be found more than a few days after his actual passing), and once as a part of a conversation at an el stop. Both happenings/discoveries threw me off my stride even though I knew they would happen eventually. Both happening on the same day was just cake-icing.
Today's Link Of The Day is the Universal Currency Convertor. I came upon it today when I purchased something from Amazon.co.uk and I wanted to find out how many American dollars were in 13.70 GBP (a little more than $18, I found). Anyway, it's a fun toy, if nothing else. http://www.xe.net/ucc/
