Where, if at all, will you be watching the inauguration?

Or, if it's after the event when you're reading this, where did you watch it?

I think I'll be listening to it in the car.

I'm taping it as I have to work all day (and so does David). So I'll be watching it at home tonight after work. Besides, it's way more acceptable to open the champagne at 6 PM than at 9 AM...then again Mimosas! Yum! ;)

I'll be watching it live on CNN.com in my classroom, for we have a very cool multimedia setup in there. No way would I want my students to feel like they missed out on history because of my class-- besides, it's politics as theatre, which makes it relevant in MY book.

Watched it at work with clapping colleagues.

Funny, that.

Saw everyone parade in and out, but missed all the important stuff because I was in the ultrasound room finding out I would be having a baby BOY!

I got to see the second half of his speech, along with other highlights (courtesy of CNN), that were taped on a DVR by the hosts of a good sized dinner party to which my friend was invited. She brought me along, since I had been to the same home for an Election Night Party. It's a beautiful home in the hills of Agoura Hills, which is a gorgeous area north of Los Angeles. Our hosts were fantastic, wonderful, lovely people, and the home is just about the nicest place I can think of to spend any celebration (the patriarch of the family is an Oscar winner for visual effects). I caught the viewing with something like 15 of the guests, gathered around the tv in their den area, sprawled on the floor, the hearth, chairs, couches, standing in the doorway, and watched in rapt silence. It was pretty awesome.

We pulled out a little rabbit-eared TV from the back room in chambers and all gathered around the set (Adam came over just for the occasion). As befits our role in the impartial judicial branch, we watched primarily in the silence of our own thoughts. It was a powerful moment nevertheless.
