Except for being asked by my own sainted mother to do something that could very easily get me fired (from a company, I remind you, that I've applied for a "real" job with), today was possibly even less interesting than yesterday. Tomorrow is the final long shift, thank the gods. Then, hopefully, Friday brings goodness. Of what stripe, I ain't yet saying.

Watching the rebroadcast of tonight's Leno-beloved PJ Harvey is musical guest. During the sit-down afterward, it's high comedy to see reasonably large Arnold Schwarzenegger standing next to fairly tiny slip of girl Polly.

I just discovered, while nosing around the LJ site looking for information on invitation codes, that as an "Early Adopter" (I signed up for the service on 8/1/2000, even though I didn't post anything until June of this year) my journal can be accessed through the URL http://hannibalv.livejournal.com which I recommend for everyone (update your bookmarks now) because it's just so much easier to remember, not to mention the stratospheric leap in sexiness. Of the URL, that is, not of me.

Today marks three months until my birthday. Start your shopping now. ;)

A tip of the cap for the (seemingly) genuinely contrite apology and retraction from Jerry Falwell w/r/t his comments not long after the attacks.

I just had a great big system crash. I was ready to make with much swearing because I'd figured I'd lost this work. But, thanks to the good graces of AutoSave, all is well.

Today's Link Of The Day is entitled "Ask The Muslim Guy", taken from the Straight Dope Message Boards. It is a great place to stop by and find out about a faith that still holds so many mysteries for many Americans. I also encourage it as a tonic to any kind of knee-jerk anti-Islamic sentiment-as discussed here, Osama Bin Laden doesn't speak for all Muslims any more than Jack T. Chick or Randall Terry (founder of the execrable Operation Rescue--which has now mutated into Operation Save America) speaks for all Christians. (Though Terry, apparently, is an interesting case--while looking for a link to tell you what he's about, I discovered that he has fallen away, in many respects, from the movement he was so instrumental in beginning. But that's another story for another time.) http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=87474

i made an effort to stay up to watch PJ Harvey on Leno as well, and it was so worth it. She's playing soon in LA and I want to see her, but I can't afford tickets. And you are right, she is very tiny, especially next to Arnold. She also seems exceptionally well spoken, not that this surprises me, but I have never heard her speak before in any interview setting...I'd always thought she was rather anti-interview, very private. Anyway, staying up to see her caused me to be wide awake, and thus I failed to get any sleep last night, but it was worth it. She's amazing.
