"It's a strange world, when it's a blessing that it's 'only' a plane crash."-P's pastor, on this morning's news.

Speaking of news, as I sit here typing this, word has hit CNN.com that the Northern Alliance has taken Kabul. Good for them, and good for the people of Afghanistan (I mean, there's no guarantee that things will get a hell of a lot better for the average Afghan citizen, but things would have significant difficulty being worse).

A thought: perhaps the most important thing a parent can teach a child is that death is not something to be feared. It's not something to be sought, mind you, but also nothing to be afraid of.

I suppose the counterpoint to that is the line from "The Crow": "Childhood ends the day you realize you are going to die."

Work continues to suck. I still haven't had a complete since the first of the month.

P had surgery today, and it looks like he'll be wheelchair bound for a month or so.

Random Elvis Costello quote (I think I'm buying "The Very Best Of Elvis Costello" on Friday, and until then, I'm wondering why I hadn't owned any of his stuff previously): "Was it a millionaire/who said 'imagine no possessions'?"

Today's Link Of The Day is another one from the crank file that is the Internet. Just see it for yourself. http://www.geocities.com/thoughtviper/holton/th.html
