The snow came back today, and this time it's gonna stay. This thrills me. I've just always been of the type who finds it easier to warm up than cool down, and this is just an extreme example of that. I was born on a day when 20-odd inches of snow fell. Shoveling's a pain, sure, but a temporary one. Last year, when I was in Orange County, CA for November and December, I got odd bits of cognitive dissonance from the fact that I was wandering around outdoor shopping malls, with Christmas stuff all over and it was WARM. I was in a t-shirt, asking for stuff to be gift-wrapped. It freaked me out. Give me instead 15 degrees and the snow flying sideways, and a warm hat, a thick coat, heavy gloves, and wondering if you should have grabbed that scarf on the way out.
Worked today, but short-at 9 it was just my supervisor and I, and while we usually would have gone for the whole time, we didn't feel like being bothered today.
Joel Coen, in a recent interview: "I hate to say this, but the best part of that movie ["Dancer in the Dark"] was when Björk beat David Morse to death with a metal box." Knew there was a reason I liked that boy.
Today's Link Of The Day is John Waters on Christmas. John Waters is a sick, sick, sick individual. Usually, we like that. http://www.interlog.com/~suzu/jw/crap/xmas.htm
