I saw "The Hours" last night. For the life of me, I can't think of a more self-important movie. ("Magnolia" comes close, but I liked the characters in that, and cared about them. This...not so much.) Julianne Moore was the best thing in it, but her work here doesn't come close to "Far From Heaven". Meryl Streep does what she can with a poorly-developed character, and Nicole Kidman, in addition to her prosthetic nose, also has on her stainless steel scenery-chewing teeth. Good score by Phillip Glass, though.

I love Philip Glass. We studied him in college, and the popular opinion was "boring". But he's got something. I figure it must be my add kicking in, but there's a serenity to it that I am drawn to.
