Academy Award-winning actress and screenwriter Emma Thompson has joined the ensemble cast of “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.”

She will play Sybill Trelawney, the ethereal and eccentric professor of divination who is renowned at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for her somewhat questionable predictions.

She'll be good, though oddly, I picture Sybill as being more diminutive.

You know, it strikes me as odd that they have yet to get this far in the filming...you'd have thought they'd have secured someone to play that character already, since the film has been in production for quite some time. Granted, the filming is slow because of the kids, but still...

Bilal and I had some fun casting ideas back during the Abbie Festival--among them (should they extend the series this far), Dame Judi Dench as Dolores Umbridge and Rachel Weisz as Tonks.

By the way, the object in question that you referred to earlier--was it the object of impalement near the beginning or the mistaken object of destruction near the end? (spoiler free enough?)

btw, regarding the latter--one of the longest sustained laughs of an audience I've ever been party to in a theatre. amazing.
