Spider-Man 3: somewhat better than the first one, not fit to stand in the shadow of the second. More details in next week's episode of The Harvey and Bob Show.

Quick question: how many times would you guess the phrase "his/her eyes well up with tears" was used in the script? If it's less than a third of the times that was used for the second movie (which would still put it in the 30-40 range), then I'm interested.

What I think would be fun would be to see how many times a version of that direction pops up...just to see how creative they could be. It's harder than it seems.

From my viewing(s) of Spider-Man 2, it didn't seem like even that much effort was given. The people who make the Control and V keys for keyboards made their money when that movie was written.

I thought the first one was really annoyingly written, especially that scene where the Goblin makes Aunt May (or whatever her name is) finish saying "deliver us from evil". I started watching the second one on a plane and fell asleep and never went back to finish it. I kind of don't want to see this one.

I think the experience of watching them is infinitely helped by seeing them in a packed theatre. I enjoyed the first one in the theatre, but when I saw it on pay-per-view (in a Dallas-Ft. Worth hotel room while being marooned there after missing a connection at DFW), it fell apart. The cuts for transitions are horrrrrrrrrrrrrible. Same thing with the second one--fun in the theatre, not so much on a small screen.

I will give props to Kiki & Tobey for, in my opinion, giving great performances in the second one--especially since I heard they hated each other for a while after they broke up. (Maybe I think the performances are better than they really are because I think they were uncomfortable performing together...I could be wrong.)

The LA news were monitoring the lines at Arclight's Cinerama Dome (part of my favorite theatre here), and since it was only 11:20pm when I saw it, I considered heading over to see if I could get a single ticket to the midnight show...I live about 5 minutes from the theatre (in no traffic). Then I realized that I couldn't muster the energy for it...which means that I'm not sure I'll find the time/energy to ever make time for the movie.

I'm saving my midnight show energy for Harry Potter.

Ooh, maybe the problem wasn't the movie or Pay-Per-View. It's probably that you were in Dallas/Ft. Worth. Not the greatest place on earth.
