Just reading that makes me start to go into an entire section of "Fiddler On the Roof", in which I starred in college, because there are no Jews (apparently) in West Texas. There was one girl in the cast from Ukraine, but she played the silent Fiddler.

"Za va, shas da rovye, Heaven bless you both, na zdrovye,
To your health and may we live together in peace. Hey!"

And then you do a very athletic Russian dance. Good times.

I was in a high-school production of The Wiz that only had four African-Americans (and me, who occasionally passes as African-American from a distance) in it, and one of them wasn't even one of the principals. It was a decent production, but it lacked the gospel energy and soul that you expect from The Wiz.

Perhaps if we'd had a little more blue-eyed soul.

Oh man, next time we live-band karaoke, I'm hoping they have "What A Fool Believes" by the Doobie Brothers. I LOVE singing like Michael McDonald.
