Is it just me, or have spammers and other Internet advertisers gotten more aggressive recently? I'm lucky enough to have most of it go through an auxiliary address, but I'm still getting a fairly healthy amount through my "real" address, too.

Work was work, once more. Three more days.

Work, it seems, tends to call a halt to the deep thoughts I have when I have long stretches of alone-time. Which is really too bad, because it makes me feel like I'm cheating you, my faithful readers.

Returning to something I haven't mentioned in a good long time, Corinne Wood is running the first commercials of the 2002 gubernatorial campaign. (Mind you, the election is over a year away.) And you know what? Heavens, they're sleazy. They make some kind of vague reference to the 9/11 Events, Wood's survival of breast cancer, and her record as Lieutenant Governor (it's this last which forces me to interject here: someone-one-time VP John C. Calhoun, I think-once said the Vice Presidency of the U.S. isn't worth a pitcher of warm spit. Lieutenant Governor of Illinois makes the Vice Presidency look like being Pope.). The whole thing just made my stomach turn, and not because of Lt. Gov. Wood's (Republican) party affiliation. If you're in the Chicago area, you'll likely see the ads at some point-tell me what you think.

Today's Link Of The Day is dumb. I love it. Go on-poke the bunny. http://www.platinumgrit.com/poke.html

I think the ads are rather creepy, actually. There is something quite unsettling about the woman. I get the feeling she doesn't move the top half of her face very often, if that makes sense...she looks almost frozen, in a way. Paralyzed. And definitely untrustworthy.

Corinne Woods is not only anti-free speech, but she's frivolous as well. She used her office to lead a protest campaign against the controversial Abercrombie & Fitch catalog.

For starters, their catalog is not in violation of any laws. For another, in a few months' time, it'll be passe if it isn't already. And for thirds, there are far more important issues she could be using her office for, rather than frivolously wasting taxpayer dollars trying to curb some company's right to free speech.

I'd worry if I wasn't so confident she'd be defeated.
