I advise you in advance: if you want to yell at me for my opinions, the comment button is at the bottom of each entry.

Two entertainment-related things are the highlights of today.

I bought the first season of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" on DVD today, and watched the first two episodes. I've never been a big watcher of the show-I fell behind early and decided to stay that way-but with the DVDs available, it was too hard to pass up. I watched the first two episodes. They were good.

Then, later, I finally saw "The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring". I was, in a word, bored. I didn't connect with the characters in any way; I thought the plot was fairly repetitive, I thought the special FX were good-not-great, and the acting good. Jackson is to be commended for accomplishing such an impressive vision. But for nearly the whole movie, I didn't care about anyone in it. I think hobbits are just annoying. Anyway, I'm glad it's over, so I can say I've seen it.

That should stir things.

Two other people wrote in in support of my personality. That's pretty nifty.

Today's Link Of The Day is more from the Bad World. Lyndon LaRouche achieved some measure of notoriety in Illinois in 1986, when supporters of his won the Democratic nominations for governor, lieutenant governor, and other statewide offices. The party-supported Democratic candidates were forced to run on the hastily-constructed "Illinois Solidarity" ticket. Unsurprisingly, both Democrat and Illinois Solidaritan were defeated by Republican incumbent James Thompson. Anyway, LaRouche is pretty much a fascist with some interesting ideas ("interesting" in this case meaning "fucking strange"). http://www.larouchepub.com/

From what I know of you I like your personality. Although a pinch of cheer and a dash less cynicism on occasion might cheer you up. (but that's my opinion) But all-in-all I wouldn't change a damn thing. You rock in your special "JHR/HVC" way. ;-)

Bah, I say. If you're interested in attaining Nirvana, then just start by tossing your _desires_. Then, if you're interested in pushing further, you can go for the rest of that cute little personality. But, regretfully, it will entail paring down on some things. For instance, to achieve an absense of self, you'll have to start just wearing only one color. . .

Done.

But I'm guessing, Mr./Ms. Anonymous, that you already knew that...

I always thought the route to attaining Nirvana involved a complex necromantic enchantment, extensive reconstructive surgery, convincing Grohl to put the Foo Fighters aside, giving Novoselic a couple of bucks, and stuffing Courtney Love in the closet once and for all.

By the by, I hoped it went without saying that I like your personality plenty. If it didn't, it is now said.
