Ahem:

ARRRRRRRGH.

First, a question: how acceptable is it to tear down people well behind their backs? We all do it, it seems. Now, a further question: dare I do it here? For instance, do I say "I had dinner tonight with the most boring damn person on the planet" (obviously an example, because I didn't have dinner tonight)? Or do I attempt to find a more politic way to say it? (Of course, if I'm too subtle, my comments will fly below everyone's radar.)

Anyway, had a lunch-b-q, didn't receive a call that would have brought me back into contact with the foreign girl from Saturday, saw a movie and fireworks instead, then, on a random stop-by, discovered one of my best friends was in unexpectedly from out of town. Not necessarily a bad day, but I don't think it was one that was as good as it could have been.

Saw "Scary Movie 2", directed by Keenan Ivory Wayans. It's pretty much more of the same, though there are fairly sizable plot holes in this one (of course, some would say that the fact that I was even paying attention to the plot in something like this is a failing). Funnyish, though. The major targets that I counted: "The Exorcist", "Save The Last Dance", "The Haunting", "What Lies Beneath", "Hannibal", "Hollow Man", "Charlie's Angels", "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", "The Game", "Mission Impossible 2", "The Weakest Link", and "Titanic" (in a scene that also could have been a parody of "Pearl Harbor", which says something about that film). One thing I didn't see that had been hyped was some kind of shot at "Cast Away" and Wilson the volleyball. Anyway, if you liked the first one, you'll probably like the second as well.

Received two entries into John's Movie Pool today. Keep 'em coming, folks: johnsmoviepool@aol.com

Today's Link Of The Day is Ironminds. I've heard it called the best general-interest zine on the web, and I don't know that I'd necessarily disagree with that assessment. Find it at http://www.ironminds.com/
